Harvest Moon - Gameboy by david JP Smith

Harvest Moon is one of the most popular video game series' ever, and has seen many incarnations, on many consoles, which is perhaps somewhat surprising, giving the nature of the game. The game usually revolves around the story of a young boy (or girl), who is asked to run a farm. The game runs in yearly cycles, where you must grow and prepare crops and livestock for sale at the end of the year.

The Harvest Moon Gameboy versions are among the best, since it's the perfect game to play on-the-go. There's nothing better than playing the Harvest Moon Gameboy version on an airplane or a long train journey. There's something very calming and soothing about the game. Some of the Gameboy incarnations include Harvest Moon Gameboy 1, 2 and 3, and 'Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town', which is the most recent. This game was greeted to critical acclaim, especially by a leading internet review site (IGN), who gave the game a score of 8.9 out of a possible 10.

Although on the surface, the game-play which continuously revolves around planting and harvesting crops may appear to be simple on the surface, the game has many hidden depths and avenues that you can go down to advance. For example, you start with a basic set of tools, but if you choose to collect enough ore, you can upgrade your tools, and do many of your jobs (such as digging and watering) twice as fast. Also, occasionally when you go into town, there are a number of possible girls that can eventually become your wife, if you choose the right actions. This gives the game a tremendous amount of replay value, as you'll want to explore every possible eventuality.
